Car/Truck/SUV

When it comes to insurance, most people’s first introduction is through auto insurance and that need often spans the majority of their adult life.

Whether it’s to commute to school, work or simply for pleasure, your car, truck or SUV represents freedom. It’s your ticket to cruise the scenic roads around Atlantic Canada and beyond in your own unique way. At Archway, we believe your insurance should fit your individual needs. That’s why we work with you to find the coverage that’s right for your protection as well as your budget.

But what happens if you are in an accident? Our personal auto packages provide financial security and peace of mind whether you’re rear-ended on the commute to work or hit a deer on the highway. We will build the coverage plan that works for you to hit the road with confidence.

Who Needs Auto Insurance?

Before you get behind the wheel of any motor vehicle, you need insurance. It’s the law. No matter how confident you feel behind the wheel, our government has laws in place that require insurance to cover damage you may cause to other people’s vehicles and property, as well as to help assist you with medical care should you be injured in an accident.

When it comes to insurance to repair damage to your own vehicle, to cover a rental car or guarantee an accident-free discount, there are many different choices available, depending on the age of your vehicle, your personal situation, and your comfort level with footing the bill should you cause an accident.

For most Nova Scotians and New Brunswickers, car insurance is a necessary expense, so you want to make sure you are making informed choices that fit your budget.

Car, Truck Or SUV Insurance Coverage

Whether you drive a brand new luxury vehicle or an older model car, Archway will work with you to design a personal auto package that ensures all your vehicles and household drivers are protected, should they be involved in an accident or cause damage.

  • Third-Party Liability coverage: This covers bodily injury or property damage claims brought forth by an innocent Third Party who holds you responsible for injuries or damages caused by your negligence.
  • DCPD coverage: Direct compensation property damage, or DCPD, is a mandatory form of auto insurance in NS & NB. It is included in all basic car insurance coverage along with third-party liability and accident benefits coverage. Under DCPD, you deal with your own insurance company to get your vehicle repaired even if someone else was responsible for the accident. The purpose is to ensure your vehicle is repaired or replaced faster, without worrying about having to deal with the third party’s insurance company.
  • Collision coverage: this covers the cost of repairing your damaged vehicle as a result of a collision involving another vehicle or object on the road or even just sliding into a ditch.
  • Comprehensive coverage: this covers damaged vehicles other than by collision, such as stolen vehicles, vandalism incidents, a rock through your windshield, fire, and animal impact.
  • Accident benefits: this includes medical or rehabilitative treatments or funeral expenses for injured or deceased persons in your company vehicle.

Liability Coverage

In cases wherein your vehicle is found liable for causing an accident, you may be required to compensate other parties for injuries and property damage they suffered. Your personal auto insurance policy covers these costs along with legal fees and settlement awards. This is to avoid expensive and sudden out-of-pocket expenses that can lead to financial ruin without the right coverage.

Uninsured Motorist Coverage

Auto insurance policies are required for all drivers; unfortunately, not everyone you encounter on the road follows the law. If you’re involved in an accident caused by an uninsured motorist, your insurance policy will respond.

If the driver who caused the collision is uninsured, this doesn’t mean that you’re left to shoulder the cost of repairs on your own or agree to an off-book arrangement wherein they compensate you directly. When you’re dealing with a negligent driver who’s on the road without proper insurance, that’s not a risk you want to take.

Your Archway auto insurance policy will cover property damage caused by uninsured or under-insured motorists. Even if they only carry the minimum coverage limit, which wouldn’t be enough to cover the cost of repairing your company vehicle, you can count on your personal auto insurance policy to cover property damage and injuries by purchasing the right coverage.
